études binaurales is a collaborative sound artwork that develops the concept of « ecoacoustic performance ».
By means of binaural microphones placed inside the performer’s ears, the acoustic field of the environment is recorded hic (in its spatial reality, as the human head perceives it) et nunc (in its temporal reality, as it unfolds from the environment). The performer can practice his/her interaction with the soundscape using many embodied techniques, ranging from conventional spatial displacements to expressive body-head movements. The collaborative format provides listeners with diverse interaction materials operating in various human and non-human environments, and invites anyone to record and add soundscapes as personal opuses to the open artwork.
The project was developed in collaboration with the wolfgang collective.
